When the titular trawler mysteriously returns, having disappeared from a Cornish fishing village thirty years ago, local man Nick (George Mackay) and brash out-of-towner Liam (Callum Turner), unwittingly take her out to sea. With its grainy, richly textured 16mm visuals, post-synch sound, achronological structure, and mannered performance style, Rose of Nevada is immediately recognisable as the work of Mark Jenkin, the singular director of Bait and Enys Men. Dreamlike, enigmatic, and immersive, the teasing Rose of Nevada will repay repeat viewing.
