LEJDIS

Director: TOMASZ KONECKI

POLAND • 2008 • SUBTITLED • COLOUR • DOLBY DIGITAL STEREO • 134 MIN

In the smash hit ‘Testosteron’, writer Tomasz Konecki took a hilarious look at men and machismo. In this follow-up, which Konecki both wrote and directed, it’s the ladies who get the comedy treatment as a group meet up on new Year’s Eve and contemplate their lives for the year ahead. Lucja, a biology teacher who is raising a son by herself, dreams about getting married. Goska, wife of a Euro MP, wants to get pregnant. Monia, who’s married to a millionaire, wants breast implants. Korba, who is single, believes that nothing in life will change her status. Will any of their dreams come true?
In the hours that follow the ladies’ get-together, Lucja’s partner Marek is caught cheating on her. In order to avoid a scandal, Marek asks Lucja to marry him. But can Marek, or indeed any man, be trusted? The only thing that remains constant over the next year is the women’s friendship. None too surprisingly, ‘Lejdis’ has been labelled a Polish ‘Sex and the City’.
