Director: Alain Cavalier

1h 40min. 2005

One of the most poignant moments at Cannes 2005 came with the appearance on stage of
filmmaker Alain Cavalier at the screening of Le Filmeur. Cavalier is little known in the UK but has a special following in France where he has made acclaimed films for six decades. His biographical take on his career and the cancer he carries with him, Le Filmeur is an honest, intimate, humorous, painful and moving self-portrait. The camera started rolling on this documentary in the summer of 1994—an intimate diary of 10 years of the film director, not to make meaning, but to live life with a camera…. Official Selection at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. With Christian Boltanski, Danielle Bouilhet, Camille de Casabianca.
