KISEKI

Director: Hirokazu Koreeda

128 min

Divorce has separated twelve-year-old Koichi from his younger brother Ryunosuke. Living in two different towns, Koichi’s only wish is for his family to be reunited. When he learns that a new bullet train line will soon open, linking the two places, he starts to believe that a miracle will take place the moment these new trains first pass each other. Marshalling some friends and coordinating with his brother, Koichi sets off to make his wish come true. This is a gentle story about childhood and the wonders of everyday life, and an ideal introduction to Japanese cinema.

Mr Yuichi Yamada, Second Secretary of Press & Cultural Affairs with the Embassy of Japan in Ireland, will introduce the film.
