For the latest in our ongoing series of IFI Talks, and to coincide with our current season on American independent cinema of the 1990s, we are delighted to welcome Dr Laura Canning, Irish filmmaker, writer, and academic, whose doctoral research at Dublin City University centred around the American independent and quasi-independent cinema of the 1990-2005 period. Dr Canning is currently based at Falmouth University, a specialist creative arts university in Cornwall, UK, where she runs the BA Film programme and is Production Lead for the award-winning Sound/Image Cinema Lab, a film production and education hub.
Following her talk, Dr Canning will also introduce the 20.00 screening of Wes Anderson’s Rushmore (1999).
