This wonderfully moving migrant family tale from Mexico combines drama with magic, innocence, and poetry to yield a wonderful story of hope. Lucia and her two sons are trying to settle in a tiny New Mexico apartment. Alone all day, the boys play football and create fantastic worlds in the room, drawing on Mexican myths and recollections of their grandfather. Kindly Chinese neighbours contrast with rough and tough local boys. This is a small film with huge themes of family, responsibility, memory, and dreams.
Introduction in English from director Samuel Kishi.
In association with the Embassy of Mexico in Ireland.
Screening as part of the IFI Family Festival 2021, August 27th to 29th.
