In Monica Stambrini’s road-movie-thriller, twenty-year-old lovers Stella and Leni barely make ends meet running an isolated petrol station. When money runs out, Leni writes to her estranged mother for help, a ploy which has fatal consequences. With a body in the boot, the lovers flee across the country into a deepening nightmare, becoming the targets of homophobic attacks and victims of their own demons. Director Stambrini gives the film an urgent biker-chick vibe as these increasingly distressed women struggle to hold on to their love for each other amid the chaos and panic.
