Following Voyages in Italy, writer-director-actor Sophie Letourneur’s (Festival Guest, 2024) latest film is another slice-of-life family comedy. This time we find Jean-Phi and Sophie with their children — three-year-old Raoul and preteen Claudine — on a road-trip in Sardinia. The promise of a beautiful holiday becomes a perilous adventure filled with a cacophony of joyful family dynamics – eating ice cream on the beach, urgent toilet needs, sunburn, and ferries that can’t be missed. Letourneur, with her remarkable talent for editing and light-touch storytelling, observes the everyday details with truth and tenderness, revealing life in the present moment as a melancholic reflection on passing time.
