Irish Film Institute -Earth Storm

Earth Storm

The fourth feature from director Fernando d’Almeida e Silva, Earth Storm is a compelling story of obsession and desire which unfolds against a backdrop of colonial uprising.

Moving between 1970s Lisbon and Mozambique, it stars internationally acclaimed actress Maria de Medeiros(Pulp Fiction, Henry and June) as Lena, a woman whose disappearance propels a young African man(her former sweetheart) on an investigative journey through political rebellion and childhood memory. A strikingly resonant fusion of the personal and the political, Earth Storm is underpinned by the legends and folk tales of Southern Africa and its fast-paced narrative keeps the suspense quotient high to deliver a satisfying and thought-provoking entertainment.
