ARCHIVE AT LUNCHTIME: MISSIONS IMPOSSIBLE (PROGRAMME 1) Director: Radharc 27 mins, Ireland, 1968, Digital, Black & White Book cinema tickets GOODBYE TO GLOCAMORRA Inwood, Manhattan, has been called the last of the Irish ghettos – Irish accents can be heard and advertisements for Irish games and functions are on display. There are Irish newspapers for sale. But it looks as though the Irish way of life in Inwood will end with the arrival of other ethnic groups into the district. Patrons should note that this film reflects the sensibility and attitudes of the period in which it was made. The commentary and the contributions of many of those interviewed includes language and reference to racial and ethnic stereotypes which are outdated and derogatory. The film is preserved in the IFI Irish Film Archive and presented here, uncut, as an invaluable record of American, Irish-American and Irish social history in the 1960s.
