The charismatic combination of George Clooney and Julia Roberts lends a lightness to this fast-paced thriller merging the worlds of TV and high finance, when a distressed failed investor, Kyle (Jack O’Connell), turns up with a gun on the set of Clooney’s live finance show. Directing with skill and style, Foster gives the array of acting talent plenty to do on screen, as the TV folk endeavour to pacify their erratic, enraged captor, with a plot underpinned by a criticism of both the financial market and ‘fake news’-driven media.
