SWALLOWS AND AMAZONS (IFI FAMILY) Director: Claude Whatman 92 mins, UK, 1974, Digital Book cinema tickets This film screened 24th June 2018. With school nearly out, it’s time to get ready for great holiday adventures on land and sea. A perfect place to start is with this adaptation of Arthur Ransome’s classic children’s book; a story of high jinks and derring-do on a mysterious island in the Lake District, which the rival children’s gang set out to defend. Setting off free from adults, the children sail and fight and get caught up in international espionage, too busy to save the picnic basket from going overboard. The boys and girls each get a fair shot of the action while the Cumbrian scenery provides a stunning backdrop for this fun and charming family tale. Tickets: €4.80 per person, €14.40 family ticket (2 adults + 2 children, 1 adult + 3 children). Notes by Alicia McGivern Director: Claude Whatman 92 mins, UK, 1974, Digital
