LOVE IS STRANGE: IN AID OF MARRIAGE EQUALITY Director: IRA SACHS 94 minutes, U.S.A., 2014, Colour, D-Cinema Book cinema tickets The IFI, GCN (Gay Community News), and GAZE International LGBT Film Festival will present a special screening of the internationally acclaimed movie Love is Strange in aid of Marriage Equality on Sunday, February 15th at 13.00. Ben and George are a New York couple who have decided to get married after being together for over 20 years. They mark their union surrounded by devoted friends and family, but when there are unforeseen consequences to their nuptial celebrations, there is only scant, reluctant support from those who cheered them at their wedding. These men may be too old and set in their ways to adapt to new circumstances, but that is exactly what they will have to do if they are going to spend the rest of their lives together. With notable performances from John Lithgow and Alfred Molina as the couple confronted with an unexpected struggle, the latest film from Ira Sachs (Keep the Lights On, Forty Shades of Blue) is a funny, beautifully observed critique of faux liberal attitudes and a touching celebration of enduring love. (Notes by Michael Hayden.) Note: Brian Finnegan, Editor of GCN, theoutmost.com and novelist, will introduce the 18.30 screening on the opening night, Friday 13th February. Book here. Don’t forget we now schedule weekly. Director: IRA SACHS 94 minutes, U.S.A., 2014, Colour, D-Cinema
