Irish Film Institute -AMÉLIE (25th ANNIVERSARY)

AMÉLIE (25th ANNIVERSARY)

Director: Jean-Pierre Jeunet

122 mins, France-Germany, 2001, Digital, Subtitled

Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s wonderfully quirky and irresistibly enchanting Amélie returns to the big screen for its 25th anniversary. After a lonely childhood, the adult Amélie (an adorable Audrey Tautou) devises elaborate, secret stratagems for bringing happiness to those around her. In the process, she finds that there may be a chance at happiness for her too, with Nino (Mathieu Kassovitz). Jeunet’s Paris is probably the most fairytale-perfect depiction of the city ever committed to celluloid, and the film remains as heartwarming as ever.

There will be Open Captioned screenings at 15.30 on Friday 3rd, and 18.15 on Monday 6th. Tickets for the 20.15 screening on Wednesday 8th will be €10.40 for IFI & Alliance Française members.
