THE IRISH FILM INSTITUTE’S €5 CINEMA TICKET SCHEME EXPANDS TO 25 & UNDER
We announce the expansion of the 22 & Under Card to cover the 16-25 age group, replacing it with the new 25 & Under Card.
Cardholders will be able to avail of €5 cinema tickets, 7 days a week, from morning to evening – with 15% off on popcorn and soft drinks for cardholders when purchasing from the box office counter!
Free registration for the card is now open in-person at the IFI Box Office, and online registration is now newly available for those in the 18-25 age bracket HERE.
See world-class Irish and international cinema in the heart of the city centre for a steal!
Get your card and catch the Oscar-winning odyssey Flow, Bong Joon-Ho’s new slapstick sci-fi Mickey 17 starring Robert Pattison, special screenings of beloved classic Farewell My Concubine and cult caper The Love Witch, and a season of masterpieces with The Films of David Lean – a fiver a pop for those aged 16-25.
With the refresh comes a fantastic new card design by Orla King, graphic designer for the campaign, which you’ll be dying to flash for cinephile cred – as well as a beautiful photo campaign featuring members of the IFI Youth Panel by Arann McCormack who has just placed Highly Commended in the AIB Portrait Prize 2024 for her photograph I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, delving into adolescence.
On the relaunch of the card as 25 & Under, IFI Head of Education Alicia McGivern commented, “With the success of the 22 and Under discount ticket scheme, we are delighted to expand this offer to include IFI audiences between 16 and 25, making great cinema available at budget prices to an even wider audience.”
The scheme was initially launched by the IFI in February 2023, with the aim of making cultural cinema accessible, and introducing a new generation to arthouse, Irish and independent cinema. With the increased age bracket, the IFI renews and expands its commitment to its youth audience and wishes to support young people in maintaining a vibrant exhibition space for them at the home of film in Ireland.
On this expansion, IFI Dirctor/CEO Ross Keane says, “We are excited to launch this new discounted ticket offer for our younger audiences aged 25 and under. We want to throw open our doors to the next generation of cinema-goers and filmmakers, and to inspire them with the best films from Ireland and around the globe. We want our younger audiences to view the IFI as their home away from home, where they can watch as many films as they want, taking chances on films that they may not have previously considered. The discounts apply seven days (and nights!) a week, so anyone aged 25 and under can see a phenomenal number of fantastic films in any given week, at greatly discounted prices. So whether they’re students, working or unwaged, once they are aged between 16 and 25, they can sign up straight away for the IFI 25 & Under card and begin exploring a whole new world of film.”
The €5 tickets are redeemable across all IFI screenings aside from free-list suspended events (such as select festival events and screenings on 70mm film).
