A New Roof is on the Rise at the IFI

We’re thrilled to announce an exciting new era in the history of our building, as work begins on a new and vastly improved atrium roof.

While the show goes on, and we continue to screen our full cinematic programme, visitors will notice scaffolding emerging in our foyer this week, with a temporary roof going up for the duration of construction.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who donated to our Atrium Roof Appeal and helped make this possible. With your contribution, the sky is no longer our limit, and the home of film in Ireland will be homier and hardier than ever before. The ongoing work will see the introduction of new glazing, framing and valley gutters, and thermal/structural upgrades of the existing supporting steel structure, ultimately leading to a greener building and a blissfully leak-free experience we’re all looking forward to. If you’d like to contribute, we’re still welcoming donations here for this crucial development.

During this week, while the temporary roof is put into place, we’ll be changing our opening time to 12:30pm. Regular hours will then return as construction takes place over the next two months, during which we’ll remain as committed as ever to delivering a stellar line-up of films and events. Stay tuned for updates, more to come.
