FOMACS Moving Worlds Symposium opens with The Mother’s House, an extraordinary portrait by François Verster of four years in the life of Miche, a charming yet troubled teenage girl in post-Apartheid South Africa. The Symposium ‘Documentary Film, Social Media and Community Engagement’
will raise questions of documentary film, social media and possibilities for engaging with social justice campaigns, and feature international practitioners/filmmakers: Ellen Schneider, Director of Active Voice, San Francisco; Howard Pyle, Director of Creative Development at TBWA Digital Arts, New York; and François Verster, Director of Undercurrent Film and Television, Cape Town.
