Veteran British director Ken Loach is world renowned for uncompromisingly naturalistic work that tackles civil rights and social issues. In a distinguished and extensive body of work, he has tackled stories of migrant workers, unemployment and the struggles of unions. This film, which never received a theatrical release in Ireland, tells of a group of English railway workers who are made unemployed with the advent of privatisation. The Screenplay is by ex-railway worker Rob Dawber and the setting is a depot in South Yorkshire.
