Sylwia (Magdalena Koleśnik) has amassed over half a million followers on Instagram as a mixture of motivational speaker and fitness trainer. Her days are a blur of public appearances, selfies with fans, and the creation of bite-sized chunks of empowering content for those who hang on her every word. However, away from the crowds, she struggles to relate to others, whether in empathising with an old friend in pain or finding comfort in a family gathering. Her online fame causes its own problems when Sylwia attracts a stalker. Despite offering a seemingly easy target for satire, director Magnus von Horn’s film is instead a balanced, nuanced, and generally sympathetic depiction of a young woman’s difficulty reconciling her dual personae.
