Playwright Conor McPherson author s again drawn to the supernatural in this tightly-crafted picture of loss and haunting. At the centre of affairs is Michael (Ciarán Hinds), a widower with two children and a dying father-in-law (Jim Norton), and a volunteer at the local literary festival. It is here he meets Lena (Iben Hjejle), a gothic novelist, and the predatory Nicholas (Aidan Quinn), the bad-tempered best-selling author who is determined to bed her. The awkward love-triangle that emerges between Michael and the two novelists, however, is interrupted by the dead and dying, with spectral presences continually stalking Michael. McPherson is joined as co-writer by celebrated playwright, Billy Roche, to develop a mature and enigmatic story of love.
