This revisionist western kicks off the decade with a kind of farewell. Directed by and starring Clint Eastwood, he’s the retired gunfighter who has turned his back on killing and wants to live quietly on his farm. But tempted by the old ways, he decides to take one last gun-for-hire job. Getting more entangled in his former lifestyle, he uncovers unpleasant truths about frontier life as we recall the veteran actor’s glory days as Sergio Leone’s The Man with No Name.
This film is being screened as part of Essential Cinema: The 1990s and will be introduced by IADT lecturer, Tom Kennedy.
