Wild Strawberries is our bimonthly film club for the over 55s.

The recent hit stage production of Stephen King’s story brings the wonderful film adaptation to mind, with its standout performances from Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman as two long-term convicts who form an enduring friendship behind the bars of Shawshank Penitentiary. Surviving cruelty, punishment and abuse, the men manage to hold onto a semblance of dignity and a shred of hope, which they also manage to bring to others’ lives. And then there’s Rita Hayworth… Consistently on lists of all-time favourite films, The Shawshank Redemption truly earns the title ‘classic’.
