Rome has provided the backdrop for some of the greatest Italian films. In this enthralling drama, it is a city of beauty, wealth and excess in which Jep, an ageing socialite and famous journalist, is at its epicentre. One evening, an unexpected encounter with a stranger leads him to reflect on times past. From the mayhem of his 65th birthday at the start to the magnificent closing scene, the film offers a glimpse of a life against the great beauty of a city which has defined him.
