This month’s title is the Oscar-winning success Slumdog Millionaire from English director, Danny Boyle. A modern fairytale set in a slum area of hectic Mumbai, the film’s unlikely hero, Jamal Malik, stands to win a fortune in the Indian version of ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’ But his success attracts the wrong kind of attention. Explaining himself to the authorities, his life unfolds in hugely imagined stories as he fights his way through a cast of villains in pursuit of his childhood sweetheart. An unmissable film from Danny Boyle, one of Britain’s most exciting directors.
