Bookings for the Sunday screening can be made from August 1st through the box office on 01 679 3477. €4 including regular tea/coffee.1950s suburban America is the setting for this film adaptation of Richard Yates’
1961 novel, directed by English theatre and film director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, the forthcoming Away We Go). Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are the Wheelers, a truly modern couple whose lives are sustained for a time by love, cocktails and dreams of moving to Paris with their children. But their world is shattered by John (Michael Shannon), a brilliant young man with a learning disability, whose distinct talent is to tell the truth. This is a powerful portrait of the disillusionment characterising post-war American middle-class life.
