IRELAND • 2008 • COLOUR • DIGITAL VIDEO • 56 MIN

Ireland on Sunday presents the world premiere of Trish McAdam’s new film What Am I Doing Here?
Donal O’Kelly’s solo plays Bat the Father, Rabbit the Son and Catalpa are thought of as some of the most original works to come out of Ireland in the last 25 years. The intensity of his performance is legendary and this documentary explores the mind behind the work. Following O’Kelly in rehearsal and on the road as he presents his plays Vive La and Running Beast, and incorporating a specially filmed 3-minute extract from Catalpa, the film dips into his thoughts, gets up close to his performances, and meets with some of his characters, friends and collaborators along the way. This finely drawn and intimate portrait is infused with the warmth of the relationship between the observer and the observed.
