Irish Film Institute -Unfinished Symphony

Unfinished Symphony

Set primarily in Lexington, Massachusetts, over Memorial Day weekend in May 1971, Unfinished Symphony examines a local conflict that reverberated nationally. Planned as a rally against the Vietnam War, Operation POW was an event staged to confront suburban complacency. The protest became a watershed for discourse over dissent and its place within a democratic society. Combined with extensive footage from the era and the event, recollections are culled from over 70 interviews. While rekindling the memories of the anguish of the Vietnam War, the film provokes an impassioned contemporary statement of deliberate and courageous leadership.
