THE WAY WAY BACK

Director: Nat Faxon, Jim Rash

U.S.A., 2013, Comedy/Drama , 103min

Duncan, age 14, holidays with his mother (Toni Collette) and her new boyfriend (Steve Carrell) at a Massachusetts beach resort. Isolated from his peers and the adult set, Duncan looks for an escape. This shy, timid teen finds an unlikely role model in Owen, the manager of the Water Whizz Park. His new friends there give him the confidence to shake off the boredom and resentment he’s been feeling and to become his own person. With plenty of sun, humour and water park gags this is a thoroughly enjoyable coming-of-age film.
