The Girl With the Mechanical Maiden Director: Andrew Legge Book cinema tickets A short set in a strange, quasi-Victorian world, The Girl with the Mechanical Maiden sees an inventor (Dominic West) construct a ramshackle robotic wet-nurse for his daughter after her mother dies in childbirth. As the child grows older, a robotic friend is built for her, a development which threatens the fragile stability of their very unusual lives. Made without dialogue, The Girl with the Mechanical Maiden relies on a well-employed music and effects track to tell a science-fiction story about unlikely parenting and even more unlikely friendship. Awards: Best Irish Short Award at the 25th Galway Film Fleadh 2013. Director: Andrew Legge
