Jim Cahill’s documentary follows the production from the first audition, through casting and rehearsal, culminating with the prisoner’s first public performance. The documentary captures the strong reaction of the actors to this play–a drama that allows the prisoners to explore their own creativity and rare self-evaluation. The film charts the rise and fall of the groups’ enthusiasm as the opening night draws close, drawing the actors into direct opposition with prison rules. The players will be in attendance.
