Irish Film Institute -The Boy in the Bubble

The Boy in the Bubble

Director: Kealan O'Rourke

Obsessed with magic and the supernatural, lovelorn Rupert casts a spell to protect himself from emotions after his first relationship falls apart. Unaware of the dangers of magic, his spell traps him in a bubble that separates him from the world. A film made in 3-D that provides a new spin on a common tale of failed first love, The Boy in the Bubble eschews dialogue in favour of a narration provided by Alan Rickman that proceeds in rhyming couplets.
