Irish Film Institute -Teaching Shakespeare on Screen

Teaching Shakespeare on Screen

Teacher and author John Nicholl explores adaptations of Shakespeare across a range of film texts. He will examine how the analysis of a director’s intention can unmask layers of meaning in the original text, the visual bringing students closer to the written. The seminar will also include a discussion of Much Ado about Nothing – the single Shakespearean adaptation chosen as one of the texts in the revised Leaving Certificate English programme.

This event is part of our ‘Exploring Film in the Classroom’ series. Booking is essential.
