RUBY SPARKS

Director: Jonathan Dayton, Valerie Faris

104 min

Budding creative writers will love this latest film from the directors of Little Miss Sunshine in which a lonely, blocked novelist Calvin (Paul Dano) magics a gorgeous female character called Ruby into real life. As Calvin falls deeper in love with Ruby, he is almost able to forget how she came to be and his writing starts to take a backseat to their blossoming relationship. Ruby, brilliantly played by the script-writer Zoe Kazan, arrives completely unaware that she’s the product of her boyfriend’s imagination. Real or imaginary? That’s for you to decide!

A professional writer will introduce the film.
