Quiet Man, The

‘Quiet Man Country Celebrations’ will this year mark the fiftieth anniversary of the release of John Ford’s classic film with two special screenings. The first showing will take place at the Irish Film Centre on Sunday September 15th at 2.00 p.m., in association with the visually impaired at St Joseph’s Drumcondra. This screening will be attended by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Cllr Dermott Lacey, and will be preceded by a rendition of songs from the film by Gerard Farrelly (son of Dick) and Sinead Stone at a pre-drinks reception at the IFC. The screening will be followed be a reception at the Rathmines Inn, where the (Dublin Branch) of the Quiet Man Fan Club will be officially launched by Des MacHale, author of The Complete Guide to ‘The Quiet Man’. The next screening will be in Galway on Thursday 26th of September at the Omniplex Cinema, in association with MS Ireland.
