Irish Film Institute -Patrick Kavanagh Centenary

Patrick Kavanagh Centenary

To mark the centenary of the birth of Patrick Kavanagh, we are showing two short films from the Irish Film Archive. In association with the trustees of the Katherine B Kavanagh Estate and the Patrick Kavanagh Centre, the Archive are presenting two documentaries that celebrate the life and work of the great writer. Where Genesis Begins is the late Bill Miskelly’s 1978 documentary about the people and places that inspired Kavanagh’s work. The Writers: Patrick Kavanagh is a 1966 RTE documentary in which Kavanagh explores his Monaghan and Dublin haunts. This programme will be of interest to LC students of Kavanagh’s poetry.
Following the screenings, Eddie Holt of The Irish Times and DCU will make a short presentation on the work of the poet.
Admission: €3 per student. Booking essential.
