OBJECTIFIED

Director: GARY HUSTWIT

U.S.A. • 2009 • COLOUR • DIGITAL BETACAM • 75 MIN

With IFI Stranger Than Fiction Documentary Film Festival just around the corner, we’re delighted to offer a taste of things to come with a special screening of Gary Hustwit’s Objectified, one of the festival’s highlights.
Hustwit’s follow-up to the hugely successful Helvetica, Objectified examines our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets, and the people who re-examine, re-evaluate and reinvent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. Through verite footage and in-depth conversations, the film documents the creative processes of some of the world’s most influential product designers, and looks at how the things they make impact our lives. What can we learn about who we are, and who we want to be, from the objects with which we surround ourselves?

We’re delighted to welcome director Gary Hustwit for a Q&A following this screening.
