IRELAND ON SUNDAY – DAVID FARRELL — ELUSIVE MOMENTS

Director: DONALD TAYLOR BLACK

IRELAND • 2008 • COLOUR • DIGITAL VIDEO • 65 MIN

David Farrell is one of the most important Irish photographers working today and the only Irish person to have won the European Publishers Award for Photography. He is best known for his hugely successful exhibition Innocent Landscapes, dealing with the searches for the so-called ‘disappeared’ from the conflict in the North of Ireland. Director Donald Taylor Black’s film documents two years in the working life of Farrell. This Ireland on Sunday screening follows the film’s premiere at last month’s Corona Cork Film Festival. Both Donald Taylor Black and David Farrell will be present for a post-screening Q&A. Donald Taylor Black is one of Ireland’s most incisive and compelling documentarists. His work includes films about the arts such as At the Cinema Palace — Liam O’Leary (1983) and observational documentaries such as The Joy (1997). He is currently Creative Director of the National Film School.
