Ireland on Sunday, our monthly showcase for new Irish film, is pleased to present the European premiere of Frank Kelly’s debut feature 140.

This ambitious experimental documentary captures a moment in the life of the planet drawn from 140 simultaneously shot films by 140 filmmakers in 140 locations around the world on June 21st, 2009. Inspired by the phenomenon of social networking systems (and titled after the character limit of a tweet), the film is about human connection on a global scale.

In a tight 140 seconds apiece, and with picture quality ranging from crisply professional to smudgy mobile-phone footage, the filmmakers reflect on friends and family, food and faith, to create an energetic and poignant tapestry. It first
screened at the prestigious Newport Beach Film Festival earlier this year.

Director Frank Kelly will participate in a post-screening Q&A.
