A RETROSPECTIVE OF LITHUANIAN EXPERIMENTAL CINEMA
Tinklai International Short Film Festival, in collaboration with Solus Film Collective and the Irish Film Institute, presents a selection of short documentaries and experimental films from Lithuania. It will be presented by Arturas Javdokimovas, film producer and director of the Tinklai Festival in Lithuania. From the 1990s onwards, more than 80% of Lithuanian cinema has been made by small independent production companies. There has been a wide range of films produced, from features to well-recognised documentaries. The best examples of these have been presented at many international film festivals, and have won many awards. But this programme is the first of its kind, representing a more experimental filmmaking tradition.

The programme covers over three decades during a period when dramatic changes were happening in the lives of Lithuanian people, changes in lifestyle, philosophy, customs and traditions. (Notes by Alan Lambert).
