IFI FAMILY: WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND

Director: Bryan Forbes

99 minutes| U.K.| 1961

The IFI Family and Wild Strawberries (our over 55s film club) programmes come together this month to celebrate Bealtaine, an annual festival marking creativity in older age.

We invite older family members to share a classic film, Whistle Down the Wind, with younger family members and friends. Hayley Mills is young Kathy who, with her brother, finds a stranger in the barn. Believing him to be Jesus Christ, they rearrange reality to suit their daydream and hide the escaped convict from the law, bringing him food and getting to know him. He naturally plays along with their game and an unusual friendship develops. Now getting new life as a stage musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this warm-hearted film is
perfect for all generations.
