IFI FAMILY: HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE

Director: Chris Columbus

152 minutes, 2001, U.S.A./U.K., Adventure/Family/Fantasy, Blu-Ray, PG

For the first time in over a decade, autumn is upon us with no new Harry Potter adaptation. Since last year’s Deathly Hallows Part 2, fans of the wizard, his friends and all their Hogwarts adventures have been pulling out their dog-eared copies and dusting down the old DVDs.

So it’s a great opportunity to revisit the first – and for many the best – adaptation of JK Rowling’s best-selling books. This was the film that millions of fans of the book had waited for as they wondered how a director could bring their heroes – Harry, Hermione, Hagrid and Ron – to the big screen, not to mention the fabulous world of Hogwarts, and the villainous Malfoy and Snape. It’s still a rollicking adventure, and definitely merits another viewing on the big screen. Those first views of Platform 9¾ or Diagon Alley are hard to forget.

Tickets: €4.80 per person, €14.40 family ticket (2 adults, 2 children)
