Adapted from a short story by Monique Wittig, The Girl is a stylish, intelligent story of obsessional love between a painter and a night club chanteuse. What starts as a detached one-night stand between two women with other lovers soon begins to consume both of them as they realise the depth of their desire. Director Sanda Zeig’s debut creates a seductively claustrophobic world with elegant photography, lyrical editing and strong performances by the stunningly beautiful women.
