Factory manager Philippe (Vincent Lindon) is divorcing his wife Anne (Sandrine Kiberlain) when his American bosses ask him to downsize the business. Relations with the workers sour as rumours of redundancies abound. Philippe must question his actions, responsibilities, and his sense of decency. Brilliantly co-written with Olivier Gorce, Another World can be seen as part of a triptych with The Measure of a Man (2015) and At War (2018). Working with many non-professional actors, we get a real sense of an oppressive, inescapable reality. Writer-director Stéphane Brizé teams up again with Vincent Lindon to deliver a captivating drama of class struggle and personal dilemmas.
