Films from the New EU

On May 1st, during Ireland’s Presidency of the EU, ten countries will become new members. To mark this historic occasion, the IFI and the Irish Film Board are touring several Irish films to cinemas located in the accession states Latvia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Poland, Malta. The cinemas will also host a screening for schools of Aisling Walsh’s heart-rending Song for a Raggy Boy. In return, we will be showing some new EU films for schools here. Students will also have the chance to make email contact with their new EU counterparts and respond to the films.
Supported by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism for Ireland 2004, Presidency of the European Union.
