FEAST YOUR EYES: CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT

Director: PETER GODFREY

102 minutes, U.S.A., 1945, Black and White, DVD

December’s Feast Your Eyes will be a foodie festive treat as we’ll be showing this 1945 comedy starring Barbara Stanwyck as a cookery writer who can’t cook!

In her Smart Housekeeping column, Elizabeth Lane (Stanwyck) proclaims to live on a picture-perfect Connecticut farm with her husband and baby while writing mouth-watering recipes and offering home-making hints. Being far from a domestic goddess, when her boss invites himself and a returned war-hero to her ‘home’ for Christmas, the farce of faking it (with a little touch of romance) ensues.

Following the film, the IFI Café Bar will provide a festive feast of mulled wine with a selection of Christmassy nibbles:

Mince pies

Smoked salmon blinis

Asparagus wrapped in parma ham

Sausage rolls

Tomato, basil and mozzarella pastry bites

Tickets for this event are €20 and can only be booked by calling the IFI Box Office on 01 679 3477 or in person.
