Irish Film Institute -Fantasia 2000

Fantasia 2000

In conjunction with the Ark Children’s Cultural Centre Festival of Animation, we are delighted to host three days of animation on film.
In association with Buena Vista International (Ireland) we are showing Fantasia 2000, a contemporary version of the 1940’s classic, and Return to Neverland, a preview screening of their latest release. The third day will feature examples of contemporary animation from Ireland and the UK.
Price €3.00 per pupil each event.
In 1940, Walt Disney began his exciting experiment in sight and sound to produce this groundbreaking film that combined several short animation pieces and pieces of classical music by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and others. Now, in this bold contemporary version, a new generation of animators give their own visual interpretation to the original imagery of dancing flowers and mushrooms, Mickey Mouse ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ and Stravinsky’s ‘Rites of Spring’.
