Double Life of Veronique, The

We’re showing Krzysztof KieÊlowski’s The Double Life of Veronique as a trailer to ‘Visions’, a festival of cinema to be held in Galway on February 1 and 2 and dedicated to the late, great Polish director’s work. One of KieÊlowski’s finest films, Veronique bridges the divide between his Polish and French work. It’s a stunning metaphysical piece about two women, one Polish and the other French, who know nothing about each other’s existence. Yet the film suggests all kinds of connections as it shows how one woman comes to share the wisdom of the other.
Poland, 1991. English subtitles. Colour. Dolby stereo SR. 98 mins.
