Comedy doesn’t come much blacker than in John Ruane’s sharp and quirky Death In Brunswick featuring Sam Neill in a refreshingly loose performance as an aimless thirty-something Melbourne chef faced with lust, racial feuds, cockroaches, a domineering mother and murder. Ruane, making an assured feature debut, pushes his material as far as he dares.
