Darklight presents a potted history of children’s animation. The programme will include material drawn from the classical Hollywood era of the ’40s and ’50s, through the ‘made-for-television’ cartoon explosion of the ’60s and ’70s to contemporary, digitally produced animation. While the programme is geared primarily towards children, adults of all ages will get the chance to revisit some of the most popular cartoon characters of their youth. Following the screening there will be a children’s animation workshop, teaching the basics of animation. Everyone attending will get an opportunity to be animator, cameraman, video editor and production supervisor as well as assist others and create their own personal clips. All are welcome.
