Completely Cuckoo

Director: Charles Kiselyak

U.S.A.| 1998. Colour. 87 mins.

Charles Kiselyak’s film charts the history of the making of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, which succeeded like no other Hollywood feature in bringing mental health issues to the very forefront of the public conscience. Interviews with author Ken Kesey, producer Michael Douglas, director Milos Forman and members of the cast provide an unparalleled insight into the film, which was shot entirely on location at The Oregon State Residential Psychiatric Hospital. The contrast between this progressive regime and the heightened tension
and bureaucracy that Kiselyak discovers upon his return to the hospital is sobering and disquieting.
